February Favorites

This month has been BUSY.

So very busy, that I nearly forgot to post this month’s favorites before the month ended. Let’s fix that right now.

February is full of birthdays in my family: my grandmother, father, husband, and niece are all born within two weeks of each other, and my best friend’s birthday was yesterday! Plus, there was Valentine’s Day, President’s Day (ok we don’t exactly celebrate this one, but STILL), and what seemed like endless get-togethers with friends and family, project deadlines, and work work work.

As such, the month is already over and I’m still trying to figure out what day it is (turns out, March 1st is FRIDAY?!). Somehow, this month was the first month that actually felt like winter, and I’m just embracing the snow and the cold…since there really isn’t much else to do at this point.

So, before it slips away from us, here are all the things that got me excited this month. I hope you love them as much as I did!

Blue Light Blocking Glasses

February Favorites

I recently started restructuring my workflow so that I edit each week’s photos in batches, thus spending hours at a time staring at my computer screen on full brightness. It’s been nice to get all of my photos edited in advance, but after a few days of editing, my eyes were literally ready to fall off. Enter the gamer glasses from Glassy. They’re kinda nerdy, totally hip right now, and literally save my eyes when I’m staring at a screen all day. They’re also great to wear at night to keep blue light from disrupting your sleep cycle, which apparently is a real thing where looking at screens close to bedtime tricks your brain into thinking it’s morning and thus you can’t fall asleep easily. So, the glasses are staying, despite the fact that Kevin thinks I look like a total loser.

Sunflower Seed Butter

February Favorites

I’ve been absolutely obsessed with sunbutter lately…to the point where I don’t even remember the last time I’ve eaten peanut butter!? Like, for real. I’ve even been passing up on my homemade dark chocolate hazelnut butter in favor of a spoonful of sunbutter. It’s weird, but I’m just going with it. As a result, there are a few sunbutter recipes coming to the blog in March that I can’t get enough of. There are several tasty options on the market for sunbutter right now, but it’s also easy to make your own (just toast sunflower seeds in a skillet til golden and blend til creamy with pinches of salt!). If you don’t have a jar of unsweetened sunflower seed butter in your pantry, grab one next time you’re out, because you’re gonna need it soon! Just FYI- Trader Joe’s sells it for the best price!

CBD Matcha Lattes

February Favorites

I go through phases with matcha and right now it’s tasting so good to me. I’ve been drinking it mid-morning for a little pick-me-up after getting a few hours’ worth of work done, and it always feels like a special treat to sit down and drink a frothy matcha latte right at home. I love using my favorite Luce Farm Hemp Honey as a sweetener, since I think the flavor of hemp with matcha is totally dreamy. This is my favorite matcha brand, and this is my go-to matcha latte recipe!

BOOKHOU Day Bag

February Favorites

I used to be a full-time purse carrier. If I was going somewhere, that thing was COMING WITH. Then, after college, I fell out of love with purses. Why did I always need to carry that big, annoying thing with me everywhere? I still don’t know. Now, after years of just carrying a wallet, various little clutches, and more recently, mini backpacks or smaller crossbody bags, I’ve realized that I like to be able to carry a few smaller things with me, but don’t want to really carry something on my arm. Enter the crossbody. It’s totally hands-free (which is great if you’re constantly taking pictures or schlepping little ones around) and surprisingly holds a lot of stuff (but doesn’t have so much space that you’ll end up lugging around 5lbs worth of crap you don’t need, ya feel me?). I’ve been digging this one from BOOKHOU- it’s the day bag, and comes in few fun, classic prints that I love.

The Best Water Bottle

February Favorites

If you know me, you know my water bottle goes everywhere with me. EVERYWHERE. Across the country, to the store, to my grandparents’ house, out for hikes, etc etc. I was gifted this beauty from Klean Kanteen last year (it’s 100% plastic-free since the lid is stainless with bamboo!) and I love the sleek look and how functional the shape/size is. Thing is, just last week, I was SO TIRED and lost mine. I’m pretty sure I went to go pee at the gym and left it in the locker room, completely forgetting that I am a responsible water bottle owner who never, ever goes anywhere without her precious bottle, and by the time I realized it was missing (the next morning, no less) it was already gone. Obviously I ordered myself a new on on amazon toute suite and its like the whole thing never happened, but it made me appreciate my water bottle even more. If you’re in the market for a new one, this sleek stainless one does.not.disappoint. Just don’t lose it, k?

Equal Exchange’s New Coconut Milk Chocolate Bar

February Favorites

OMG. Clearly I can’t go a single month without raving about another bar of chocolate (#chocolateloverforlife) but I can’t help myself: equal exchange came out with a few new chocolate bars this month and I’m DYING over them. This coconut milk chocolate bar is seriously so dreamy…it’s made with coconut milk, coconut sugar, and toasted coconut pieces inside and I’m snacking on it nonstop. I always love snacking on EE products because I know they’re organic, fair trade, small farmer grown, and made by a company who values people over everything. The fact that their chocolate is so tasty is just an added bonus.

This Gorgeous Pine Tree Mug

February Favorites

I’ve been slowly adding to my mug collection, and I think this one might be my all-time favorite. They’re made by hand in Spokane, Washington, and have the most gorgeous pine tree detailing! I have the mint but it comes in lots of different colors (I’m eyeing the teal as my second purchase!) and I love how it feels in my hand + looks in my kitchen. If you have an eclectic collection of mugs, this pretty pine tree NEEDS to be in your collection. Ugh, I’m still trying to stop myself from buying more (because I don’t need them, but dang they’re just so pretty!).

That’s it! I hope your February was filled with lots of love, plenty of chocolate (always) and that you’re ready to take on March. I know I am!
